Name:  Amanda Brown

Born: 1986

Email: thesexyatheist1@gmail.com

Location: Shawnee, KS; I grew up in Independence, MO as a member of Assembly of God and Restored Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (sect of Mormon)

Organization Affiliation:  Kansas City Atheist Coalition – Director of Philanthropy, Society of Open-Minded Atheists and Agnostics – Director of Recruitment, Contributing Editor for Atheismresource.com, and Student member of the Secular Student Alliance

Label:  Atheist, Secular Humanist

About Me: I am truly a therapist at heart.  I want to help people in any way I can which is why I not only made this website but am involved in many different secular organizations.  I truly believe atheists are normal people who are “good without god”.  We all want to help each other in times of need, we all want to make a difference.  I know the best way to make a difference in this world is to always first lead by example.  By doing this one simple thing others will see that atheists are not untrustworthy people but normal everyday people.  It’s ok to be an Atheist and it’s ok to say so.

Check out Amanda’s Blog.  Her blog, “The Sexy Atheist” focuses on different aspects related to sex therapy and education.

This is a new thing for people in the USA to get exited about but we in Europe have been Atheist for a long time without fear of “Coming Out” or retribution from employers or communities. So I wish you all the best of luck and I hope you expand and outnumber the religious bigots.
I am Scottish, have been an Atheist since I was about 13, I am now 69 and live in Spain which is in theory catholic but totally free.
    Regards
    Dave

    Brava Amanda
this world is better to my eyes since when I entered this internet site.
I am writing from the most catholic country of the world, but where the “level of faith” of most of the people is probably the least.
Religion is a habit, a way to get some benefit and the so much celebrated “family”, for the catholic hierarchy the fundamental element of the society, is the least protected in the western advanced world.
I became a declared atheist at 11 and at that time I had the opportunity of discussing about this happily discovered state with the prior of the seminar of my town. I must tell he was a wise and gentle man, who accepted all my rational denials of the existence of a god, telling me that had I lost the faith, no rational analysis could give it back to me.
A couple of decades later I read completely the volumes of the “Dogmatical Theology” course used in seminars in order to see if a word could rise a doubt on my being an atheist, and I did not find a single one.
I am a member of the Council for Secular Humanism and a reader of “Free Inquiry”, as well as of the “Skepical Inquirer” and of many works published by Prometheus books.
The fresh style of this site and your simpathy will help many young people to feel at ease in their path to become independent minds and responsible citizens.
Tell me if I can be of any help
Ciao from the country of the Vatican, but also of Galileo and Giordano Bruno

      Cesare,

You can be of most help by getting your story out as well. Please send us your video or essay to help others in your area (more than you would think) to come out as well. This is a world wide project that we are doing. All voices NEED to be heard.

Thank you so much for the compliment it is powerful and moving and reminds me why I started this project.

I would like to post a message about what Atheists have done to my family members and to me.

But I don’t think you would post it.

    Or would you?

      James,

That sounds like something that would be a good article for Atheism Resource. Sorry it has taken me so long. But please email atheismresource@gmail.com and we’ll see about getting it out there. Not all atheists are good people just like any other group in this world. But I would like to know about your experience.
