I struggle with this as well. Josh verbalized it very well. I don't want my family, who are all Christians, to anguish over the damnation of my eternal soul. No one would wish such pain on their loved ones. I want them to know that I am an atheist because I think it will eventually help them to escape the clutches of religion and live a fuller life, but in the meantime my impending afterlife in hell will be a source of torment for them. I guess I can't have my cake and eat it too. I can't decide which is the greater good... to leave my family in peace and hide my atheist viewpoints, or to put them through the pain of knowing my religion viewpoints in the hopes that I can help them to see the truth. For now, I remain silent, but I am open with my family and I suspect some day it will just slip out.

Dan is a great friend of mine - in many ways - and I have heard these true stories before. But I still find them poignant and heart-rending, having had one such relationship myself many years ago. Fortunately, I did not marry the guy in question (who was the son of a Baptist minister) even though he did de-flower me on the red carpet in front of the alter in their church).
I always admire Dan's writing style, finding it very readable, with just a hint of humour, and inevitably, good advice and good logic.
Well done, my friend, for another riveting blog.

In contrast, ice should be used in acute conditions to reduce
swelling, inflammation and to decrease the pain. Find
a DVD program that targets your specific issue, whether it is lower pack pain, hip
problems, or a pain in the neck, and follow those exercises for two weeks or so.

The above is simple action that anyone can do to prevent back pain
and maintain a healthy back.
