Here is a list of regional and national charities or foundations. If you know of a secular or atheist philanthropy please contact us so we can promote them here.
none of the so called christian charities have helped me, perhaps you can. I am in the middle of my ssd claim as a result of bipolar disorder and rheumatoid arthritis. i am in need of transportation (bus passes) so that i can get enrolled with metrocare in Dallas and get my psych medications. also, i need help with housing. my only income is food stamps. do you know of an organization that would help me?
First I need to know where you live and precisely what type of help you need. Second I need you to send me your story; how did you end up in the predicament you are now in? Third I will need to speak with you over the phone to ensure the story is real and that you are a real person. And lastly after our donors take a quick 2-3 day vote on whether or not we will allocate the money to you or not will be determined.
We are dedicate to the process of rehabilitation from debt. Learning how to budget your time finances and social life along with keeping a job and working towards a goal.
I too have asked Christian charities for help and have received none. My daughter has cancer and we lost our cars because of job loss. I was able to purchase a vehicle two days ago but I’m unable to get insurance or a tag for it. I have job offers I cannot get to because it is illegal to drive this way. I live in Dahlonega, Georgia. If you email me I can give you a contact number. Maybe ya’ll can help me so I can get to work and my daughter to chemo appointments. Thanks

Thanks so much for putting together this resource. I am interested in supporting orphans, and google is festooned with ads for christian organizations.
While I don’t criticize the aims of these charities, I feel sad that there aren’t as many opportunities to support a secular or even atheist organization doing the same thing.
Regardless, I’m going to follow your list and see how I can help. Thanks for putting it together
HELP. I made a mistake about two years ago that basically halted my career. I drove without insurance on vehicle and fell asleep behind the wheel. Bad as this was I hit another vehicle and they are suing me of course. Because of the fine I received it is now over 5000. This doesn’t count the amount for being sued(60k, I hit a BMW on top of it all). All of this was my fault and I get that. Here is the reason it happened. I was working too many hours and on my way home from work. My wife was at the end of her university course and we needed all the cash we could to get her through school so she could work.(We were so close to the good life!) We were also trying to keep food on table for my two children. She is my high school sweetie and I have been with her since 1996. Basically saying, I am not a bum looking for a hand out. This is what I am asking if possible.
1.I would like enough money to pay fines so I can get back to my career. I will work for it if I have to as I can provide printed shirts. (I do this as a profitable hobby but because I have no license sales call are really tough)7000 revenue but only 2000 YTD profit all going to that nasty student loans and wifes mastercard(Down to 1000 now).. or
if someone or a group will help out I will payback through donating monthly to an Atheist organization that does good for our community of freethinkers. I will even take advise. I know I screwed up and I beat myself up daily for it so I don’t need to be reminded here thanks. If you want to call me or email me to ask me questions please do. Please help so I can get back to supporting my family.
Here is what I do to give back even though I am broke.
Volunteer coach youth basketball twice per week. Volunteer in my wifes school when time allows.(She graduated a teacher and is working now)Try to help out neighbours and do good deeds whenever possible. Promote positive atheist values!
Thanks for your consideration. Broke but not Broken

I lost my job through no fault of my own this past April. I have been diligently looking for work since. I have almost completed 2 years of college and have been employed steadily since I was 17 years old. I only lack 2 classes to earn my A.A. degree, but I can’t scrape up the 600.0 for tuition, let alone books! I’m 45 now. I have a used car, a mortgage, and one grown daughter. I have been unable to find ANY work in my small town. I have put in literally two hundred applications and resumes with only two calls for interviews, neither of which I was offered. I can’t even get on at McDonald’s or Wendy’s. I’m “overqualified” apparently. Unemployment compensation was keeping out heads above water while I look for work, but that has ended now and I am in deep trouble. I’ve been having weekly yard sales and I have pawned all my jewelry and collectibles to keep afloat. I have nothing left, and little hope of finding a job. Local churches in my area give out boxes of food, and some toiletries, but I need cash. I need help paying my utilities (too many people here are in my same boat, so utility assistance is scarce and very hard to get), car insurance, gas for my car, ect… I am not asking for a hand out. I need a hand up. I also have some physical challenges to deal with. I have severe Juvenile Idiopathic Scoliosis, Fibromyalgia, and Osteoarthritis. The spinal surgeries to correct my spinal deformity has left me with a large fusion mass (T6 to L4) causing Adjacent Segment Degeneration, arthritis of the spine, and bulging discs. I live in a great amount of pain and I am limited in the physicality of the work I can do. I have tried starting a couple of small businesses, but I lack information and start up money. I have filed a disability claim, and was denied. I have filed an appeal, but it could take months. My Christian relatives, who all have money, refuse to help me because I am an Atheist. They tell me God will pay my bills if I only believed. They tell me that I just haven’t tried hard enough to accept God, and that if I had a church family, I wouldn’t be in this need. I have appealed for help on Craigslist, but as I live in a small, deep South, republican Christian conservative stronghold, I have had no offers of work or help of any kind. Can someone please help me? This steep slide into poverty is more than I can bear.
We will have your back Teresa. After speaking with you over the phone I know the $500 we sent you will be put to good use. I hope we can help you find a job and ensure you are never in this position ever again.
Just a quick question. This April we are producing a TV pilot that’s a spin-off of our web channel. In the pilot we’d like to showcase four charities doing significant work with Detroit’s homeless, poor, underserved… In addition to faith-based charities, we’d also like to showcase a humanistic cause with a dynamic yet easy going, camera friendly leader. Any ideas? Next month we will begin raising money via kickstarter to help us give a vehicle to one of the charities at the end of the show. No agenda here. Trying to tell an authentic, balanced story, make great TV and generate positive exposure for great causes. Thanks for your help.
I am in Colorado. I have a friend near Murray, Kentucky whose home burned to the ground this morning. No one hurt but no insurance on his home. He has only the clothes on his back and a tablet that he had with him when he left. He is an atheist and so far someone has contributed a coffee maker. We are sending what we can from here but maybe us there someone there who can help him? He could use anything, clothes, money, someone to help him figure out how to rebuild. Any ideas or help would be appreciated.
